Billy E. “Bill” Brown, 74, of Ashland, died Tuesday, August 29, 2017 in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born June 25, 1943, in Ashland, to the late Robert and Bertha Barber Brown. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 38 years, Ruby Marie Perry Brown in 2014; a sister, Mary Lou Conley; and a brother, Jack L. Brown Sr..
Billy was a 1961 graduate of Ashland High School. He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 350. He was an avid U.K. fan, loved horse racing and served honorably in the United States Navy. He retired from Flowers Bakery after many years of service and had worked in Security at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Survivors include a brother, Robert Brown (Jane Lassiter) of Muncie, Indiana; sisters, Peggy Meade, Linda Miller (Homer), Brenda Miller, Sandy Patton (Tony Walker), and Debbie Brown Cyrus (Roger Forrest) all of Ashland; sister in law, Lorriene Brown of Ashland; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North East with Thorney Artrip officiating and Military Honors provided by the U.S. Navy and American Legion Kenova Post 93.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Friday, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel. There will be an Elks service at 12:30 p.m. Friday.
Following the burial there will be a memorial dinner and time of fellowship at Ashland Elks Lodge BPOE 350.
