January 21, 1925 ~ September 19, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Elizabeth Brown Stamper Davis, 92, of Scott Depot, WV, formerly of Ashland, peacefully passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Rolling Meadows Place in Scott Depot. Elizabeth was born January 21, 1925, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Thomas and Italy Potter Brown. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by husbands Charles E. Stamper in 1969, Charles W. Davis in 2009, daughter Brenda Sue Dassell, son Johnny Bert Stamper, brother Andrew Grimmett, brother-in-law’s Vinson Layman and Dutch Jackson.   

Mrs. Davis was of the Baptist faith. She was a 1942 graduate of Ashland High School and grew up in the “Greatest Generation” having proudly served her country during World War II as one of the famous “Rosie the Riveters”. She also worked under Colonel Sherry at Patterson Field (Wright-Patterson) Air Base in Dayton, OH.

She completed Nursing School and had a rewarding career as an LPN with many years of service at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

She is survived by her loving children Marietha Gayle Michael and husband Bill of St. Albans, WV, Charles E. Stamper, Jr. and wife Jayne of Barboursville, WV, Chuck Davis, Jr. and wife Sherri of Homestead, LA, siblings Mary Jo Layman of Ashland, Bonnie (Lester) Pifer of Columbus, OH, Eloise Jackson of Cannonsburg, KY, Norma (David) Rice of Ashland, Kay (Joe) Elam of Ft. Myers, FL, son-in-law Buddy Dassell of Georgetown, KY,  grandchildren Nancy Michael, Clint Noble, Adam Noble, Sarah Stamper, five great-grandsons and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel by Chaplain Pete Thompson. Burial will be in the Rome Proctorville Cemetery in Proctorville, OH.

Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon till 2:00pm Saturday at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Rolling Meadows Place in Scott Depot for the excellent care that was given to Mrs. Davis while she was in their care.
