Frances Lorena Christian

Frances Lorena Christian, 87, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 at her residence. Lorena was born April 5, 1929 in Ashland, a daughter of the late Franklin F. and Neva Lemaster Wheeler. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Milton B. Christian, a sister Phyllis Whitt and a granddaughter.

Lorena was a lifelong resident of Ashland and a 1946 graduate of Ashland High School. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Ashland and joyfully worked in the church nursery department. She was also a babysitter for several area doctors’ families and loved being with the children. Most importantly to her was being a loving homemaker to her family and a mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her children Joe (Belinda) Christian of Boyd County, Stephen (Susan) Christian of Middletown, OH, Tim (Terry) Christian of Louisa, KY, Richard (Dianna) Christian of Ashland, Jan (Bryan) McKinley of Lexington, KY, brother Earle Wheeler of Lexington, KY, sister Marilyn Langley of Goose Creek, SC, 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter and host of extended family, friends, and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 1:00pm Monday, Feb. 20, 2017 at the Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland by Rev. John Street. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday evening from 6-8pm at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland.
