Frances McGuire Ross

Frances Lee McGuire Ross, 80, of Catlettsburg, passed away Monday evening, April 8, 2024, at Trinity Station in Flatwoods, KY.
Frances was born June 7, 1943, in Lawrence County, KY, a daughter of the late Milton and Dixie Compton McGuire.
Frances was a dedicated member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church in Catlettsburg. She graduated from Boyd County High School, where she was a cheerleader. Throughout her life, Frances maintained an active lifestyle, engaging in sports like tennis and cycling, and she had a passion for hiking and the outdoors. She also devoted her later years to rescuing and rehabilitating numerous animals in Boyd County. She retired from Calgon after many years of service as Supervisor of the Lab.
As a sister, mother, and grandmother, Frances was cherished by her family. Her grandchildren have fond memories of her active involvement, playfulness, and shared love for outdoor adventures. Frances's impact on their lives was truly remarkable.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son Jeff Ross of Russell, her daughter Rhonda Sizemore of Catlettsburg, brothers Robert (Imogene) McGuire of Ashland, and John (Pam) McGuire of Catlettsburg, sisters Sue McGuire Sparks of Cannonsburg, Jerri Kittle of Ashland, Kathy Nunley of Catlettsburg, two grandchildren Dr. Ross Sizemore and fiancé Brooks Laffoon, Audrey Manning and husband Cody Manning, two great-grandchildren Rory Manning and Emery Manning, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Steen Funeral Home 13th St. Chapel with words of comfort by Mike Blankenship. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park.
