Herman R. Geyer Sr., 81, of Ashland, Ky, died Friday, January 19, 2018, after a short illness. He was born October 15, 1936 in Ashland, a son of the late Albert Geyer and Cora (Bullion) Geyer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Geyer, four sisters, and twelve brothers. In the early 60’s Herman was drafted and served a tour of duty with the United States Army. He owned and operated a masonry business and was a 50 year member of the International Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Union. His work is reflected on many buildings and homes throughout the Tri-State area. Rightfully so, he was proud of his work. Everyone that knew him loved him; he had a huge heart and was always willing to lend a hand. He had a deep love for farming and was still farming until his illness. Feeding his cattle gave him purpose. Herman was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by three children, Herm (Belinda) Geyer, Becky Geyer-Howerin, and Chris Geyer; 2 grandchildren, Ray and Rachel Geyer; 2 great-grandchildren, Brayden and Isaiah Geyer; 2 sisters Margaret Kelly and Goldie Capps; and a number of nieces and nephews; lastly, his loyal companions and farm hands, Willie and Gypsy. Herman was one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all! Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel by Joe Hutchinson. Burial will be in the Kirby Flats Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
