Ms. Jackie was my mom's roommate for almost 4 years. In that time, she became part of our family. She was the most appreciative woman ever. The smallest gift ( a every Sunday sundae from my brother, especially ) made her smile. I loved to hear the stories about her Harlem Globe trotter's days (she was so proud of her beloved husband), fixing fried chicken for Meadowlark, going to the Kentucky Derby and the hats she wore. We will miss her and I'm sure my mother will never have a roommate as special as Ms. Jackie. Fly high, Ms. Jackie!

Our belated friend Jackie Helem would have become 89 years old Dec 8 if she had lived several more days. Her graveside services are currently scheduled for December 15, 2017 1:00pm at Ashland Cemetery. Praise God for her loving friendship and guidance over the years. She will be greatly missed by our family, our children who were her Godchildren, and this community!
We love you. Our prayers also to her loving family, Bruce Shirley & Joe, Sheliya, Sis. Libby, Billy, Sonny and more. I know she also appreciated her home church, New Hope Baptist Church and its Pastor Mosley and current Pastor Stanley McDonald & families, Scope Tower (Susie, Mary Kay, Chuck, et al) and Boyd Nursing Home friends (Lois, Roscoe, et al) and more (including Jeri, Kim and others)!
