Janet Rougier Barry

Janet Rougier Barry, 74, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center.
She was born Dec. 3, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Harry and Katherine Rougier.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Barry; a sister, Mary Kay Klein; and two brothers, Peter and John Rougier.
Janet was a brilliant and optimistic person, striving for equality for all people. Janet's nursing skills took her to many places throughout her life. She used her nursing skills in the mountains of North Carolina, Biafra, Nigeria, Philippines and Kentucky.
To many, Janet was a dear friend, a special sister, but more importantly she was a great mother to her two children.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph and Christopher Barry; two sisters, Julie Zeccola (Frank) and Martha Rougier; a brother, James Rougier (Ann); and a host of loving nephews and nieces.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Glenmary community, past and present, members of Saints John and Elizabeth Parish. They would especially like to express their thanks to the family of Octovio and Maria Hernandez. Without their continuous day to day help, life for the Barry house would have been very difficult for Janet and the boys.
A mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Saints John & Elizabeth Catholic Church, 799 State Highway 1947 in Grayson with The Rev. Father Michael Flanagan officiating. Entombment will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel
