Janet Susan McKenzie

Janet Susan McKenzie, 73, of Ashland, passed away, Monday, March 20, 2017, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
She was born August 25, 1943, in Ashland to the late James Edward Workman, Sr. and Geraldine Rose Kouns Workman. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Edward Workman, Jr. and Timothy Lee Workman.
Janet attended Heritage Free Will Baptist Church. She worked at Katie’s Corner and was known as “Granny” to her friends there. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Cecil Everett McKenzie, Jr.; son, Jimbo McKenzie and wife, Sabrena “Shrimp” of Ashland; daughters, Gerri Richardson and husband, Scott of Ashland, Diana Taylor and husband, Ken of Ashland; brother, Tony Workman and wife, Kay of Ashland; grandchildren, Jennifer "Niki" Sanders, Ashley Hogsten, Eric Taylor, Alex Joseph Hoffman and Patty Richardson; great grandchildren, Jarrett Sanders, Ryder Hampton, Austin, Ethan, Skylar and Jace Hogsten, Noah Smith, Elijah “Isiah” Dewees, Drew Taylor and Brayden Hughes.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with words of comfort from Pastor Brian Steele and Pastor Mike Moore. Burial will follow at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017, at the funeral home.
