Martha J. Howell

Martha J. Howell, 92, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Martha was born August 13, 1925 in McDowell, WV, a daughter of the late George and Nancy Hatten Lilly. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband John Howell, sons Paul and Johnny Howell, daughter Cathy Howell, 11 brothers and 4 sisters. Martha was a longtime resident of Ashland. She retired from Elmwood Village after many years of service. She was of the Christian faith and was a devoted homemaker to her family. She will be deeply missed. Survivors include her sons Timothy Howell of Ashland, David (Terri) Howell of Ashland, daughters Janet (Mike) Murphy of Ironville, Sandy (Dick) Walker, Mary (Brian) Bays of Ashland, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Steen Funeral Home 13th St. Chapel by Charles Rice. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
