Mary "Mimi" Lee Arthur, 79, of Ashland, KY, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024, in Ashland. She was born on July 30, 1944, in Ashland, KY.
Mary, known for her sense of humor, infectious laugh, and big smile, was a beloved figure in the lives of her family and friends. She cherished her role as a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews, treating them as her own children. Mary had a special bond with Adam Mullins, whom she adored.
She was a dedicated fan of college football, with Marshall being her favorite team. Mary and Adam spent over 30 years attending games together, holding season passes for the same reserved seats. Her home was a place of joy and laughter, filled with movie nights, pizza outings, and lots of love.
After caring for her parents, Mary moved to a new home on Greenbriar road. There she found not only true friends but a new family. Mary treasured her neighbors and loved them deeply. Her family is thankful to the friendship of Greenbriar road and for their love and care for Mimi.
Mary's career as a dietitian at St. Mary's Medical Center spanned 31 years, reflecting her passion for helping others and making a difference in their lives. She held a master's degree in Dietary Science and excelled in her field.
A faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Ashland, Mary found solace and strength in her deep faith in God, which guided her throughout her life. She lovingly referred to her church as the "Chocolate Church" and commented frequently on the great conversations and questions she would share with Reverend, Jeff Bramel.
She is survived by her niece, Charlene McKenzie; niece, Paula Kay (McKenzie) Payne; nephew, Adam Mullins; nephew, William (Bill) Arthur, and many great nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie and Buster Arthur; sister, Susan (Arthur) Mullins; sister, Kay (Arthur) McKenzie; brother, William Arthur; and nephew, William McKenzie.
A memorial service to celebrate Mary's life will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel. Greetings and memories will be shared at 12:00 pm, followed by the memorial service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
In honor of Mary's love for dogs, especially her beloved rescue Daisy, the family requests that contributions be made to Ashland Animal Rescue Fund, P.O. Box 2061, Ashland, KY, 41105-2061 in lieu of flowers.
