Ralph M. Smith

Ralph M. Smith, 90, of Ashland, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Ralph was born October 14, 1927 in Pike County, Kentucky a son of the late Arthur and Virdie Buskirk Smith. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Jean Brown Smith. Ralph was of the Baptist faith and attended several area churches over the years. He was a 1946 Graduate of Ashland Senior High School. He continued his education at Ashland Junior College graduating in 1950 and then on to Marshall College (University) completing his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1961 with a major in Accounting and minor in Economics. He worked in the Accounting department at Armco Steel for many years and ran several businesses in the Ashland area including the Suburban Mobile Home Park. Ralph served his country proudly during World War II with the United States Marine Corps. Survivors include several Nieces, Nephews and dear friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel by Pastor James E. Pridemore. Burial with full military honors will be in the Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
