Teresa Gayle Lester

Teresa Gayle Lester passed away June 23, 2017.

She was born on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1958, in Ashland, Kentucky. She lived in the tri-state area until 1966, when she and her family moved to California, returning to Ashland in 1978. She retired from her work with the Kentucky Department for the Blind in 2015.

Teresa received a bachelor’s degree from Morehead State University and a master’s degree from the University of Kentucky. She was a Kentucky Colonel.

She was kind, compassionate, and always willing to help someone in need. She was a talented artist, and many of her paintings and drawings are on the walls of her family home. Teresa was a very good cook; there never was any leftover cornbread.

She enjoyed science fiction, especially Star Trek. Sitting in a rocking chair, reading a good book was one of her life’s pleasures. She owned nearly every book Steven King published.

Her back porch was her special place to watch the seasons change. She loved hearing the loud croaking of the frogs coming out of hibernation and a good thunderstorm.

Teresa was the daughter of the late Herbert (Buck) Lester Jr. and the late Wanda Lester. She is survived by her loving son Keith Lester, sister Vickie Lester, and brother-in-law Bill Wasserzieher.

A memorial celebration of Teresa’s life will be scheduled by the family at a later time.
