Thomas W. Hays

Thomas W. Hays, 82, of Ashland, died peacefully Tuesday, August 1, 2017.

He was born February 5, 1935 in Beaver, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Homer and Mary Louise Haun Hays. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Anna Ruth Frost Hays in 2014.

Tom was a graduate of Ashland High School. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church, and retired after 38 years of service from A.K. Steel.
He was a member of the United Steel W   orkers Union and served 9 years in the Army National Guard.

Survivors include two sons, Paul Hays and wife, Joy of Catlettsburg, and Scott Hays of Ashland; daughter, Sharon Hays of Lexington; grandchildren, Anna Swinford and husband, Adam, Angus Hays, Jeremiah Hays, Austin England, Anna Grace England, Matthew Hays and Tyler Hays; two great grandchildren, Lisbeth Ada Swinford and Trea Kaylie Swinford.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 at Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum with Pastor Jeremy Couture officiating.
