Albert H. Humphrey, 90, of Oak Hill, Ohio, passed away Monday, February 17, 2020 at his residence.
He was born June 30, 1929 in Harrison County, West Virginia, a son of the late Berlin F. and Lily Bird Goff Humphrey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son in law, Claude Howard; 3 brothers and two sisters.
Albert was of the Baptist faith. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII and Korea. He was the U.S. Army Middleweight Boxing Champion 63rd Infantry Regiment during Korea. He was past president of Ironton V.F.W. 8850, and retired as Lieutenant from the Federal Prison in Summit.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 69 years, Flora Shiffra Humphrey of Oak Hill, OH; sons, John Douglas Humphrey (Teresa) of Aiken, SC, Brian Scott Humphrey (Marilyn) of Raleigh, NC, Bruce Wade Humphrey (Pamela) of Racine, OH; daughter, Rebecca Howard of Ashland, KY; brother, Art Humphrey (Margaret) of California; sister, Georgie Rebrook of Clarksburg, WV; grandchildren, Kevin Howard, Craig Howard, Brian Humphrey, Jr., Tyler Humphrey, Lindsay Debinder, Lee Humphrey, Kelly Humphrey, Kristen Humphrey and 9 great grandchildren.
A military graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North East with Pastor Cline Rawlins officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and American Legion Kenova Post 93.
Visitation will be from Noon until 1 p.m. Thursday, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel.
