Allison Kent Picklesimer “Pick”, 76, of Flatwoods, peacefully passed away Friday morning, July 7, 2017 at his residence. The youngest of nine children, Kent was born September 11, 1940 in Volga, Johnson County, KY, a son of the late Oakley and Mallie Hitchcock Picklesimer. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brothers Gray, Gay, Kermit, John and his sister Lina. Kent was raised in Johnson County and was a graduate of Flat Gap High School. He currently was serving as a Flatwoods City Councilman and was a very active member of the Plaza Community Church of the Nazarene. He also served on the Summer Motion Board for many years. Kent was a 32nd degree mason of the Grand Lodge of KY F&AM, Fred M. Gross Lodge #953 and the Valley of Covington, Orient of KY, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Kent retired from Marathon Petroleum Company, Catlettsburg Refinery, as the Chief of Security, after 45 years of service. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years Louise Conley Picklesimer of Flatwoods, his son Tim Picklesimer and wife Tammy of Paducah, KY, his daughter Kim Harrison and husband Howard of Ashland, brothers Custer (Alice) Picklesimer of Paintsville, Allen Picklesimer of Zanesville, OH, sister Helen Blair of Johnstown, OH, his granddaughters Sara Beth (Steve) Stifano, Ali (Bryan) Hicks, his great granddaughter Sophie Hicks and a host of extended family nieces, nephews and dear friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Monday, July 10, 2017 at the Plaza Community Church of the Nazarene by Rev. Paula Sergent. Burial will follow in the Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-8pm Sunday with a masonic service at 7:00 at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel and at the church from 12:00 noon till 1:00pm Monday at the church.
