Ardena Mae Doolin

October 16, 1945 ~ January 8, 2020 (age 74)




Ardena Mae Doolin, 74, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, January 08, 2020, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
She was born October 16, 1945, in Ashland, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Dallas and Rosa Mae Ellis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers Eskil Ellis and Lionel Keith Ellis.
Ardena was a member of Cannonsburg Trinity United Methodist Church, where she had formerly been a Sunday School Teacher. She was a 1963 graduate of Boyd County High School, 1973 graduate of King’s Daughters School of Nursing and a 1986 graduate of Marshall University. She was a Registered Nurse and retired following a long career with King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was a member of United Methodist Women, Red Hats Society and enjoyed attending Community Bible Study.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Stephanie Billips and Beth (Clayton) Hill of Ashland; sister, Jeanine (Mitch) Thomas of Rush; sister in law, Debbie Ellis of Grayson; grandchildren, Ashleigh Barker, Zach Barker, Emma Hill, Isabella Hill; great grandchild, Indigo Layne Barker; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2019 at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with Pastor Bruce Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, and from 10 a.m until 11 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ardena’s memory may be made to Cannonsburg Trinity United Methodist Church.
