Armello DeRaimo

June 24, 1937 ~ June 24, 2020 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Tribute

Armello “Glo” Fields DeRaimo of Ashland, KY went to her eternal home with Jesus on June 24, 2020. She was born in Ashland, KY on June 24, 1937 the daughter of the late William C. and Iva Fields. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Ginger Davis and Wanda Neudorfer Pack and her brother William C. (Bill) Fields III.
Glo was a graduate of South Point High School, class of 1955. After graduation she moved to Sarasota, FL to attend The Ringling School of Art. It was in Sarasota that she met James Wilson Ware. They married in 1957. Glo spent many years in Sarasota as a restaurant owner and beach lover. She spent much of her time walking the white sandy beaches and enjoying the Florida sunshine. Much later in life Glo returned to the Tri-State area and pursued her interest in Emergency Medicine. She graduated EMS school and became a certified EMT in the states of Kentucky and Ohio. She worked with various ambulance services in the Tri State. She attended New Life Church in Huntington WV where she dedicated her life to the Lord. In 1998 she joined the staff at Tri State Regional Cancer Center in Ashland as a patient transporter. She also volunteered with Community Hospice where her patients referred to her as their angel of mercy. She retired in 2008. Upon retirement she moved to Winchester, KY to be closer to her daughter Jemella. They shared a love for God’s word and attended Ark of Mercy Church in Winchester and later became members of Man O’War Church in Lexington, KY. Glo truly enjoyed the fellowship of the senior ministry at her church. Glo was a very outgoing
“people person” throughout her life. She enjoyed telling her life stories and was very endearing to all who knew her. Though we grieve her passing we are reminded of Psalm 116:15, “Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of His servants” Lord, truly I am Your servant.
Glo is survived by her only child, her daughter, Jemella DeRaimo of Winchester, KY, two sisters June Lester of Willow Wood, OH and Dinah Geschke (Gary) of Westerville, OH and a multitude of young and promising nieces and nephew and all of their children.
A private memorial will take place on Saturday June 27, 2020 at the home of June Lester with Pastor Darrell Huffman officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Fannin Family Cemetery on Bear Creek, Boyd County, KY.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Fannin Family Cemetery are suggested and appreciated
