Audrey Ann Ray

It is with comfort, the family of Audrey Stewart Ray announce the end of her earthly battle and her entrance into heaven on May 27th, 2022.

Audrey was born September 25, 1935 to the late Fred and Ona Stewart of Ashland, Kentucky.

In addition to her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. (June) Ray, a grandson, Brad Ray, and all her siblings Betty (Cleo) Scott, Ida (Dick) Patrick, Roy (Elinor) Stewart, Peggy (Bill) Heaberlin, and Fred (Linda) Stewart.

Audrey was a wonderful and selfless mother to Jeff (Sabra) Ray, Greg (Shelly) Ray and Carol (Joey) Duvall. Although many referred to her as “Mamaw”, her grandchildren Lyle (Amber) Ray, Mikah McKnight, Clay (Jeff) McKnight, Cristopher (Tricia) Duvall and Breanna Ray, her great grandchildren Izaiah Jude, Zoe Jude, Lynnlee Ray, Jailyn Perry, Jaxen Perry and Sloan Perry were all spoiled by her love and generosity. Audrey also leaves behind a loving extended family along with her church family at New Beginning Church of the Nazarene.

Audrey lived an abundantly simple life full of joy, laughter and love. Her greatest delight came from being surrounded by family and friends. If she knew you, she loved and considered you a best friend.

Throughout the last 18 years, she battled several types of cancer. She never lost her hope and joy throughout her journey. Cancer never defeated her optimistic spirit. Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine…that was her self-prescribed treatment plan.

Funeral services will be held 1:00pm, Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at the STEEN FUNERAL HOME CENTRAL AVENUE CHAPEL by Rev. Kenny Martin and the Rev. Ken Martin. Burial will follow services at the Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held prior to services on Tuesday, beginning at 11:00am at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank her team of doctors, their staff, and Community Hospice for her excellent care throughout her journey.
