Bernice Dixon

Bernice Stapleton Dixon, 91, formerly of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at
Bowling Green Manor in Bowling Green, Ohio on Sunday, November 14, 2021.

She was born in Ashland, Kentucky on January 16, 1930 to the late Jay and Nancy Lemaster Stapleton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Curtis "Curt" Dixon, Sr., brothers Earl "Red" Stapleton, Willard "Bill" Stapleton and sisters Chattie Stapleton Dent and Mae Stapleton Miller.

Bernice and Curt were married June 24, 1950 and co- owned Dixon Dry Cleaners in Raceland and Clean Rite Dry Cleaners in Ashland. She also worked at Hope's Laundry in Ashland. After her children were born she became a full-time homemaker. She loved making crafts and baking. She was a member of the 21st Street Tabernacle.

She is survived by her children a daughter Janet Dixon Tallman and husband Frank of Louisville, KY; a son Jimmy Dixon and wife Susan of Bowling Green, OH; and granddaughter Gracen Taylor and husband Koby of Bowling Green, OH; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Will and Lynn Freeman of Lexington, KY; and Sean Freeman of Fort Collins, Colorado

Funeral services will be held 11:00am Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the 21st Tabernacle in Ashland with Pastor Rick Porter officiating. Burial will be in the Ashland Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel and from 10:00am till service time Saturday at the church.
