Billie Jean Lawson

Billie Jean Osborne Lawson, 76, of Ashland, KY, went to her heavenly home, Sunday, July 5, 2020. She was born September 1, 1943 in Ashland, Ky. a daughter of the late William “Bill” Osborne and Katherine Erie Osborne. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her life companion and best friend Mike Mantle.
Billie Jean was a graduate of Paul Blazer High School and worked at Corbin Limited for over 20 years. She was a dedicated Kentucky Wildcats fan and would always let her North Carolina family know when they won. She loved spending time with her friends at the Eagles Club, but most of all she loved the visits with her family in North Carolina.
She was the happiest at the beach where she loved laying out in the sun and playing in the water. Billie Jean was always regarded as being a very positive and kind person.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Karen Sue Whitley, step-son, Ronnie (Tonya) Mantle, her brother Jimmy Osborne, her sister Susan Cantrell, grandchildren, Kristan (Chris) Tyndall, Wesley (Kristen) Whitley, and Katie Whitley all of Goldsboro, NC, three great grandchildren she considered her pride and joy, Lawson Tyndall, Kennedy Tyndall and Wesley Whitley III.
Also surviving are very special friends in Ashland, Sandy, Tim, Leigh Ann, Patty and a host of extended family and good friends.
The Family will celebrate Billie Jean’s Life with a private service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Steen Funeral Home, Central Avenue Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Billie Jean’s memory should be directed to the American Heart Association.
