Carl E. Crooks, 80, of Ashland, KY went to his heavenly home on April 11, 2022 with Helen by his side.
He was born September 18, 1941 in Ashland, the son of the late Elwood “Putter” and Ruby Ellington Crooks.
He retired from AK Steel in 1996. He was a Tomcat fan and volunteered with the chain gang at the football games. He enjoyed coaching youth sports, being outdoors, teaching Sunday school and taught himself how to play a hammer dulcimer and later took advance lessons from Scott Miller.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard M. Crooks and a nephew, Robert J. Crooks.
Those left to cherish his memory, are his wife, Helen Crooks; three sons, Mike (Laura) Crooks, Steve (Teresa) Crooks and Jeff Crooks; four grandchildren, Dr. Jesse (Rebecca) Crooks, Drew (Aubrey) Crooks, Brianna (Derek) Zimmerman and Kylie Crooks; one brother, Donny (Lois) Crooks; brother in law, Bill (Connie) Houser; two nephews, Rick Crooks and Trevor (Bree) Houser and one niece, Tonya (Jack) Drawdy.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, April 15, 2022 at STEEN FUNERAL HOME, CENTRAL AVENUE CHAPEL by Pastor Kyle Vanover and Chaplin Jimm Smedley. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
