Cecil C. Evans

Cecil Clayton Evans, 80, of Ashland, died Monday, October 16, 2017 at Kings Daughters Medical Center. Cecil was born December 13, 1936 in Ashland, a son of the late Andrew Jackson and Stella Salyers Evans. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by four sons, Cecil, Jr., Jerry, Randy and Gary Evans and a sister Cecilia Mae Young.

Cecil was a lifelong Ashland resident. He retired from the Maintenance Department of Armco Steel’s Ashland Works. He served his country proudly with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Eagles.

Survivors include his sons Dylan Evans and fiancé’ Kourtney Harris of Ashland, Terry Evans of Corinth, TX, James Mullens of Florida, daughter Jillian Mullens of Ashland, step-daughter Debbie (David) Wurtz, brother Paul (Angela) Evans of Man, WV, grandchildren Che’ Evans, Hannah Evans, Casey Evans, David Evans, Josh Evans, Andrew Evans, Jacob Evans, Brooklynn Evans, Maverick Harris, Jennifer Norfleet several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 11:00am Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Steen Funeral Home, 13th St. Chapel. Visitation will be from 10-11 Thursday at the funeral home.
