Charles Vernon Flannery, 81, of Ashland passed away Monday, December 2, 2019 in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center.
He was born May 27, 1938, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Leonard and Lona Seagraves Flannery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Janice Butler Flannery; brothers, John, Leroy, Ray, Tom, Matt, Jack, Curt, William and Phillip Flannery; and a sister, Lois Brown.
Charles was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church and retired from Armco Steel after many years of service. He served honorably in the Army National Guard for 12 years. He volunteered for 20 years at Kings Daughters Medical Center and also volunteered as a crossing guard for Fairview Independent Schools.
Those left to cherish his memory include daughters, Kristie (Jay) Whitlatch of Ashland, Cindy Flannery of Ashland; grandchildren, Andy Damron, Danielle Estep (Adam) McHenry, Cody Estep, Taylor Franz, Mackenzie Franz and Lakin Franz. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December5, 2019, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Scott Hill officiating. A private burial will follow at Flannery Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
