Charles Edward Gifford

Charles Edward Gifford, 83, of Ashland, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019.
He was born April 26, 1936, in Ashland, a son of the late Cecil and Marie Horn Gifford. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Loraine, Catherine, Betty, Mary and Wanda and a grandson, Eric Gifford.
Charles was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church. He retired following a 26 year career with USS Chemicals/Aristech Chemical Corporation. He served honorably in the United States Navy and enjoyed gardening, hunting and old classic cars.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Janice Fleming Gifford of Ashland; sons, Russell Gifford of Tulsa, OK, and Thomas Gifford of LaPorte, TX; brother, Roy (Barb) Gifford; sisters, Geneva Sexton, LeVonia Lane and Helen (Willie) Tharp; grandchildren, David Gifford, Michael Gifford and Justin Gifford and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2019, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Pastor Tom Leach and Pastor Walter Wilcox officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park where military honors will be provided by American Legion Kenova Post 93.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
