Charles Ray Queen, 91, passed away peacefully at his residence in Ashland on Sunday, May 3, 2020, under the care of Hospice.
He was born February 26, 1929, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late Victor Wallace Queen and Ethel Lester Queen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sarah Bailey Queen; and a brother, Arthur Gene Queen.
Charles was an excellent student. He graduated from Ashland Senior High School at 16 and from Ashland Junior College at 18. He served honorably in the United States Army during Korea and retired following a 42 year career as Production Supervisor with AK Steel.
He was a member, deacon and former high school boys Sunday school teacher at Wildwood Baptist Church. Charles truly loved his church family and attended each Wednesday and both Sunday services. He enjoyed watching the Ashland Tomcats, Kentucky Wildcats, going to Bare Arms Shooting Range and front porch sitting with his neighbors.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Cathy Lynn Queen of Ashland; brother, Paul E. Queen and wife, Dolores, of Flatwoods; several nieces, nephews and his sweet dog Honey, which he loved dearly.
A private graveside service will be held Thursday, May 7, 2020, at Ashland Cemetery with Pastor Tom Leach officiating.
