Cheryl Lewis

Cheryl June Dowell Lewis, 68, of Ashland, joined The Lord on Palm Sunday, April 14,
2019 from the Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born June 17, 1950 in Louisville, the second of six children born to Ginger
“Jimmy” Dowell and Betty June Osburn Dowell.
She was the adored wife of Garry Lewis, mother of son Jim Lewis, and daughter Angela
Lewis. As a homemaker, she also worked jobs around Ashland in secretarial and
administrative duties. A Girl Scouts leader, in the PTA and a member of the Disciples
Womens’ Ministry. She loved spending time with family and friends, watching UK
Basketball, savvy shopping and caring for anyone in need.
Cheryl will be missed by many who loved her including sisters; Gaye Lynn (Mike)
Phillips, Ida Lou Anne (Mark) Hermansdorfer, Sue Ellen (Jeff) Adams and brothers
Robby (Debbie) Dowell and Gary Dowell. She had many nieces and nephews who were
influenced by her care and kindness. She loved all of her friends at First Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ), where she attended for 15 years.
A visitation for Mrs. Lewis will be held on Good Friday, April 19th at 1:30 p.m. followed
by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at The First Christian Church in Ashland by Rev.
Larry Sivis. Her cousin Pastor Randy Osburn will deliver a message about Cheryl’s
extraordinary lifetime of caring devotion to all who knew her.
