Cheryl Franklin Newman

Cheryl Franklin Newman, 66, of Raceland, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
She was born on September 9, 1955, in Ashland, Kentucky, the oldest daughter of the late Gary and Phyllis Witten Franklin.
Cheryl retired following a 40 year career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a member of the Eastern Star Mistletoe Chapter. As her health declined, she was unable to attend church but enjoyed watching her son minister online from Faith Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Gary and wife, Sonya Newman of Ashland, and Ryan and wife Carol Newman; two sisters, Kathy and husband, Tim Heaberlin of Richmond, KY, and Debbie Peffer of Nashville, TN; two adoring grandchildren, Gracie and Noah Newman; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
A celebration of Cheryl’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022, at STEEN FUNERAL HOME CENTRAL AVENUE CHAPEL beginning with a service by the Nurses Honor Guard of the River Cities and followed by words of comfort provided by her son, Pastor Gary Newman. Burial will follow in Caroline Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at Noon on Friday, at the funeral home.
