Christine Oakes Donta

Christine Oakes Donta, 74, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, July, 15, 2021 at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Christine was born August 6, 1946 in Kirkham Lancashire, England, a daughter of the late Frank & Ann Cross Oakes. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister Colleen Oakes.
Mrs. Donta was a faithful member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church and for many years attended Unity Baptist Church. She served in many capacities including vacation bible school. She worked as a personal care sitter with the elderly and was a loving homemaker.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband Paul Donta of Ashland, her daughter Sherry Donta (Allen Abbott) of Ashland, Brett Davis whom she considered her grandson, her brother John Oakes and wife Sylvia and their four children of England, her sister Colleen’s two children and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 3:00pm Monday, July 19, 2021 at the STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13TH STREET CHAPEL by Pastor Jason Porter. Entombment will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be prior to services on Monday from 2:00pm – 3:00pm at the funeral home.
