Clarence Austin “BB” Cooper, 78, of Ashland, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. BB was born July 26, 1942 in Pineville, WV, a son of the late Thurley Oswell Cooper and Lillian Mae Webb Cooper Swann.
BB retired from AK Steel after 34 years of service as an Electrician in the Electric Construction Department. He was a master mason of the Poage Lodge #325 F&AM in Ashland, a 52 year member of the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E #350 and an honorary citizen of New Orleans.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 60 years Anna Gibson Cooper, a son JR Cooper (Marilee), daughters Angela Ramey Franklin (Marty), Tina Leighty (Pete), Stephanie Carter (Mike), grandchildren Heather Cooper, Josh Cooper, Matthew Rowe (Erin), Ericka Leighty, Michael Leighty (Noelle), Austin Kelley, Anna Carter, great grandchildren Avery Cooper, Maxwell Leighty, Noah Leighty, a brother Rannie Cooper (Charlene) and a host of extended family and good friends.
A private family service was held at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland. BB was laid to rest in the Garden Terrace Mausoleum.
