Connie Coburn Melvin

Connie Coburn Melvin, 63, of Ashland, was born December 20, 1957 in Miami, Florida and passed away while surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 21, 2021, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas Ray Coburn, Sr. in 1972 and Beatrice Gibbs Coburn Queen in 2020; step father, Ronald Queen in 2016; and a brother, Douglas Ray “Bud” Coburn, Jr. in 2018.

Connie was a 1975 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School and retired following a long career with Ashland Child Development Center. She was of the Christian faith and her greatest joy in life was time spent with her family. She had a zest for life and was an amazingly strong woman who will be missed by many.

Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Angie Melvin Massey of Ashland; son, David Melvin and wife, Tiffanie of Ashland; sister-in-law, Cindy Coburn of Collinsville, OK; her loving life companion, Lewis Wells of Ashland; nieces, Kelly Albers and Kim Reed; nephew, Beau Coburn; four grandchildren, J.D., Maggie, Aiden and Shaylee; and three children by love, Amy, Kenny and Joshua Gillespie.

A graveside service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2021, at Rose Hill Burial Park with Marty Gute officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Connie’s memory should be made to Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Avenue, Ashland, KY, 41101.
