Daniel R. Vencill

Daniel Ralph “Dan” Vencill, 78, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Dan was born November 6, 1939 in Ironton, Ohio, a son of the late Ford and Nellie Washburn Vencill. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother Bill Vencill.
Dan was a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Ashland. He served in the Choir Ministry and as a deacon. He also served as treasurer of Messengers for Christ Ministries along with his cousin Dale Griffith.
Dan retired from the store room at Armco Steel Company with 27 years of service and was a former member of the Kentucky National Guard.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years Julia Wheeler Vencill of Ashland, brother Joe (Dottie) Vencill, sisters Becky (Tom) Lyons, Betty Vencill, nieces and nephews, Alexander Lyons, Amy (Eric) Baker, Tony (Melissa) Wheeler, Lori (Brad) Hooks and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 12:30pm Saturday at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel by Pastor Jeremy Couture. Burial will be in the Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Saturday from 11:30 noon till service time Saturday at the funeral home.
