David Richard Castle
May 28, 1941 ~ January 17, 2023 (age 81) 81 Years Old
David Richard Castle, 81, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday evening, January 17, 2023 at Kings Daughters Medical Center. Mr. Castle was born May 28, 1941 in Ashland. He is the son of the late Howard Castle and Opal Easterling Castle McGlone Spurlock. In addition to his parents, his sister Clara Jane Castle Wilson also preceded him in death. Mr. Castle is a lifelong resident of Ashland. He graduated from Ashland High School class of 1959, was in the school choir and served on the class reunion committee. He attended Ashland Community College and was a member of the Unity Baptist Church. He loved to coach youth sports and had a terrific wit and a wonderful sense of humor. He loved his family and was an exceptional husband, father and grandfather. His working life led him to a lucrative career with Armco Steel Company serving with over 32 years of dedicated service as a metallurgist. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 60 years Avinell Senters Castle of Ashland, a son David Castle of Ashland, a daughter Kristina Castle Daman & husband Roger of Lexington, KY, his grandchildren & great grandchildren he adored, Cort M Castle of Clarksville, VA, Parker Edinger & wife Georgia of Frankfort, KY, Nina Daman and Emma Daman both of Lexington, great grandkids Kaeden and Karley, his furry K-9 companion Tobi and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Monday, January 23, 2023 at the STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13TH STREET CHAPEL by Unity Baptist Church Pastor Heath Bauer. Entombment will follow in the Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services on Monday beginning at 12:00 Noon.
