Debra Kaye Knight

Debra (Gouge) Knight, 58, of Catlettsburg, KY passed away on July 28, 2022 at the UK Medical Center. She was born on March 2, 1964 to the late Ernest Jr. and Leoma Gouge.

As a family, they moved to Greenup, KY in 1979. She attended and graduated from Greenup County High School where she was a member of the USMC JROTC program there, earning many awards and accommodations. After graduation, she joined the US Air Force. Following her service, she earned a degree as a Biomedical Engineer Technician. Upon her graduation, she was one of only 6 women in the country in the profession and worked at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital as well as traveling throughout the Tri-State area for her job. Debra was a wonderful cook who could make a great meal out of nothing. She had a great love of nature and loved to camp and fish. She was a peacemaker, but a fighter if needed to protect her family. Her laugh and smile would light up a room and she never knew a stranger.

Debra is survived by her loving husband Stuart Knight; her three children Elizabeth Phelps of Lexington, KY, Joshua (Samantha) Jones of Boyd County, KY and Travis (Mackenzie) Knight of Catlettsburg, KY; grandchildren Elaina Jones, Layla Jones, Colin Jones, Canaan Knight and Serena Jones; a brother Walter Franklin Gouge of Ashland, KY; and sisters Mary Payton of Ashland, KY, Bridgett (Eric) Stone of Grayson, KY and Lisa (Mark) Jones of Colorado Springs, CO.
