Delma L. Handloser

Delma Handloser, 84, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Community Hospice Care Center.
She was born September 9, 1933, in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Rev. Homer Bowen and Florence Gilbert Bowen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene C. Handloser in 1993; brothers, Marco, Loren, Bill and Homer Bowen and sisters, Irlena Thompson, Lois Harris and Vivian Defoe.
Del was a member of Central Baptist Church. She was a nurse at King’s Daughters Medical Center, nursing homes in Venice and Northport, FL; and did private duty nursing for many years. She was a regular blood donor for American Red Cross and volunteered for many years in the ICU at King’s Daughters Medical Center.
Survivors include two sons, Mark G. Handloser, and wife Sylvia of Boyd County, and Arthur G. Handloser and wife Linda of Ashland; daughter, Sally Vandewalker and husband, LaVern Ackley of Binghamton, NY; five grandchildren, Nathanael Handloser of Ashland, and Patrick Hodgeman of Bluebell, PA, Khristine, Monica and Steve Hodgeman of Binghamton, NY.
Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2018, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with Pastor Joed Rice officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
A private burial service will be held Tuesday in Ashland Cemetery.
