Dixie Compton McGuire, 99, of Catlettsburg, KY, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 5, 2021, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Dixie was born December 27, 1921, to the late John R. Compton and Maude Crank Compton on Cooksey Fork of Big Cat Lawrence County, Kentucky.
Married in 1939 to Milton McGuire who passed away April 14, 1988.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. McGuire was preceded in death by sons-in-law, Pete Sparks, Carl Kittle and Joe Nunley; five sisters and one brother.
She was a member of Cannonsburg Trinity United Methodist Church of Ashland, KY and employed by the Boyd County School System in the cafeteria at Cannonsburg Elementary School.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Andrea Sue Sparks, Jerri Kittle of Ashland, KY, Frances Ross, Kathy Nunley of Catlettsburg, KY, Robert McGuire and wife Imogene of Ashland, KY and John McGuire, and wife Pam of Catlettsburg, KY; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ernie LeBlanc of Englewood, FL; and a host of extended family and friends.
Special thinks to Peg Brickey and Pam McGuire for meals prepared weekly and for the many desserts made by Imogene McGuire.
The special care provided by her caregivers, Jean Crites and Jo Rita Bandy along with Community Hospice Home Health and Care Center.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13TH STREET CHAPEL with Pastor Bruce Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be from Noon until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
