Tribute

Donald Ray Bellomy, affectionately known as Ray or Pastor Ray by those who knew and loved him, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 22, 2024, while surrounded by his family at King’s Daughters Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born on March 6, 1950, in Ashland, Kentucky, to the late Bennie and Louise Estep Bellomy. Ray was also preceded in death by brothers, Paul Bellomy, Tom Bellomy, Bill Bellomy, and Russell Bellomy; and his sisters, Lanis Restelli and Roberta "Birtie" Musser; along with his devoted in-laws, Charles Fields, Herman Restelli, Phyllis Bellomy and Lois Bellomy.

Ray's life was a living example of faith, hard work, and selfless devotion to his church and family. As a member and assistant pastor of Ashland Grace Nazarene Church, Ray dedicated 49 years as an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene and pastored for 19 years. He retired from Olivet Nazarene University, where he served diligently for 25 years after moving to Bourbonnais, Illinois, with his beloved wife and daughter in 1989. Always humble, Ray embraced the simpler joys in life. He could often be found engrossed in a word search puzzle or busying his hands helping his family with anything they needed.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 53 years, Sharon Evans Bellomy of Ashland, KY, and their daughter, Kristen Nicole Bellomy, also of Ashland, KY; his siblings, Richard Bellomy of Fayetteville, NC, James (Belvia) Bellomy of Winnsboro, SC, Darrell (Deanna) Bellomy of Sparta, TN, Betty Fields of Ashland, KY, and his twin sister, Kay (Delbert) Vance, also of Ashland, KY; his brother-in-law, Kenny Musser of Ashland, KY; and his sisters-in-law, Betty Bellomy of Ashland, KY, Nancy Bellomy of Ashland, KY and Doris Bellomy of Mansfield, OH. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Ashland Grace Nazarene Church followed by a service to honor and celebrate Ray’s life at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ted Stepp officiating.

A private family burial will held at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
