Donald C. Kirk

Donald C. Kirk, 86, of Ashland, passed away, Thursday, November 2, 2017, in Boyd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born September 11, 1931, in Rush, KY, to the late Noble and Dovie Borders Kirk. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gay Kirk; and a sister, Anna Lou May.
Don was a member of the Ashland Elks Lodge BPOE 350, American Legion Post 76 and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the Army Medical Corp and retired from AK Steel and Ross Realty. He was an avid Bluegrass fan and musician and participated in many Bluegrass activities.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Kilburn Kirk of Ashland; son, Joe (Carolyn) Kirk of Ashland; daughters, Cathy Jean Blackburn of Frenchburg, KY, and Cindy Rae (John) Salyers of Ashland; step sons, Terry (Selma) Dean of Ashland, Ricky (Cheryl) Dean of Greenup, and Chris Dean of Ironton, OH; brother, Andrew (Lois) Kirk of Catlettsburg; grandchildren, Johnny Salyers, Shelly Brown, Jody Fultz, Becky Blackburn, Lauren Kirk, Andrea Dean, Shawn Dean, Aaron Dean and Michelle Dean; and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2017 at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with Pastor Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery where military honors will be provided by American Legion Kenova Post 93.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
