Donald Ray Salyers, 76, of Ashland, died peacefully Monday, October 12, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 6, 1944, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late Cecil and Blanche McCalvin Salyers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Thelma Ann Rucker Salyers in 2002; and an infant son, Matthew Ray Salyers.
Don was a 1963 graduate of Boyd County High School. He served honorably in the Army National Guard and was a Christian. He enjoyed farming, fishing and being surrounded by his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include a sister, Rita Haney of Ashland; niece, Cecilia Keffer of Grayson, and her children whom Don considered grandchildren, Christopher and Maggie Keffer of Grayson. He is also survived by a host of loving extended family members and dear friends.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2020, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Rev. Gary Salyers officiating. Burial will follow in Coalton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
