Doris A. Armstrong

Doris A. Armstrong, 85, of Catlettsburg, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019, at Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.
She was born July 19, 1934, in Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late Pittman Lee and Margaret Mary Hensley Armstrong. In addition, she was preceded in death by brothers Lawrence Bernard Armstrong and George Pittman Armstrong; and sisters, Dorothy Ann Armstrong and Mary Agnes Compton.

Doris was a faithful member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church since 1955 where she had taught Sunday school and was involved with many church activities. She was also a member of Big Sandy Homemakers, Member of the Board of the Russell E. Compton Civic Center and Museum and retired after many years of service from Inland Gas and Columbia Gas Company. Among all that Doris achieved in her lifetime, she was extremely devoted to caring for her family and for that they will always remember and be grateful.
Survivors include nephews Robert R. Armstrong, Sr. and wife Robin of Ashland and James L. Armstrong and wife Janet of Pittsburgh, Pa.; niece Mary Allison Burch of Hamilton, Ohio; great-nephews Rusty Armstrong (Kelly), Ryan Armstrong and Drew Burch; great-niece, Lawren Burch; and two great-great nieces whom she loved as grandchildren, Maddy and Lexi.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2019, at Hyland Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Catlettsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday, at the church.
