I was fortunate enough to have Mrs. Lester as my teacher twice at Bellefonte Elementary School: once in the second grade and again in the fifth grade. She was also the principal during my fourth and fifth grade years at Bellefonte, if my memory is correct.
My lasting memory of Mrs. Lester is that she was a tough but fair educator. She didn't allow excuses but she was also fiercely devoted to her students. She demonstrated the compassion that so many of us needed considering our young age and varying backgrounds. Above all, Mrs. Lester instilled in her students a love of learning that has served me well throughout my life.
I'm deeply sorry to hear of her passing. Prayers of comfort for her friends and family.
