Eldon Woodruff Thompson, Jr., 89, of Ashland, passed away Saturday morning, September 26, 2020, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.
He was born July 11, 1931 in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late Eldon Woodruff Thompson Sr. and Margaret Ison Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack R. Hood.
Eldon retired following a long career with C & O Railroad. He served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was of the Protestant faith.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 62 years, Carol Ann Thompson of Ashland; daughters, Cathy Anderson (Jim) of Ashland, Cindy Stapleton of Louisburg, NC, and Carol Thompson of Ashland; grandchildren, Matthew Anderson (Jamie), David Anderson, Jessica Stapleton, Cassandra Stapleton and Benjamin Thompson Cooksey; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with Pastor Brian Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
