Betsey Lee, 72, joined her parents, grandparents, and in-laws in heaven on August 4, 2019.
She was born February 24, 1947 in Morgantown, WV to the late John Mack Hill and Patricia Jane Guard Hill.
She is survived by her husband and Love of Her Life James Donald Lee, brother John Guard Hill and his wife Barbara Joan Stanley.
Betsey and her parents relocated to Charleston, WV after her father graduated from law school. Betsey was an honor student through high school and college. She graduated from Stonewall Jackson high school in 1965 and received a B.S. degree in Mathematics from the University of Kentucky in 1969. She was employed at the U of KY computing department for 8 years. She married Robert Brown and they worked at Johnson and Johnson and several other Biotech firms with her specializing in IT and Quality Control. She became a competitive equestrian in show jumping horses participating in many competitions over the years.
Betsey and Don fell hopelessly in love in 1968. They parted ways soon after and then reunited in 2015. They have spent the last 4 years in loving bliss together traveling the world, visiting old friends and making new ones. Betsey was talented musically and played in the bell choir at First Presbyterian Church in Ashland. She was an expert on crafts, needlepoint, knitting, making wreaths, picture framing, etc.
A memorial service will be held for Betsey on Saturday August 10 at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel. The service will be at 11 am with visitation beginning at 10 am. In lieu of flowers please make contributions in Betsey’s name to Community Hospice, First Presbyterian Church of Ashland window restoration fund, or SPCA New York.
