Eugene Daniel

Eugene “Gene” Daniel, 66, of Ashland, Kentucky passed away at Boyd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Monday, July 30, 2018. He was born in Ashland, Ky. on February 27, 1952 to the late Earl Franklin and Dorothy Fields Daniel. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a niece Vicki Sue Daniel.

Eugene was a graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School in 1970 where he also served on the Rifle Team He attended Morehead State University, was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, and graduated in 1975 with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. He was an oil and gas consultant and served on the Board of Realtors. He was former President of Huntington Single Point Ministries and was most active in the Ashland Elks BPOE #350 where he was Past Exalted Ruler and served many terms as Esquire. He will be lovingly remembered as an avid joke teller and karaoke singer.

He is survived by his loving wife Shirley Christian Daniel of Ashland; a son Jordan Lee Daniel and wife Nikki (Boggs) of Oldtown, Ky; a brother Earl Daniel and wife Helen of Ashland, Ky.; Grandchildren Jacob Lee, Bailey Nicole and Leah Jo; Nephews Dave Daniel and wife Haley and Chris Daniel and wife Rebecca; and a niece Rebecca Daniel Porter and husband Dwayne.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 2, at 1:00 PM at the Ashland Elks BPOE Lodge #350 and will be officiated by Chaplain Dan Spreacker. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM on Thursday until 12:45 PM at which time there will be an Elks Service.
