Eunice V. Carter, 100, of Ashland, KY entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior Saturday morning, May 29, 2021. Eunice was born August 10, 1920 in Ashland (Westwood) a daughter of the late Alex and Mary Newman Fisher. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Glenn A. Carter; a daughter, Pam Hess; a son Mark Carter; siblings and their spouses, Gerald and Jo Fisher; Theda and Gene Williams; Enid and Paul Holbrook; and daughter in law Liz Carter.
Eunice attended Fairview schools and graduated from Ashland Sr. High School in 1938. She worked at the Ashland Home Telephone Company as a long distance telephone operator. During WWII, while her husband was service in the Navy, she worked at Clayton and Lambert. She was a beloved mother and devoted homemaker. When her children were older, she enjoyed doing volunteer work with the children and the Cerebral Palsy school, the American Heart Association and the Cancer Society. She was also a caregiver for her own mother, Mary Fisher, in her later years.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Charles Carter, Keith Carter, Danny Carter; daughters and sons in law, Linda and Mike Wright, and Leigh Ann and Mark Fielding; Seventeen grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 2:00 PM at STEEN FUNERAL HOME-CENTRAL AVENUE CHAPEL and will be officiated by Reverend Leon Dalton. Burial will follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM.
