He served faithfully for 57 years including ten United Methodist churches in five Kentucky counties: Kavanaugh Circuit (Buchanan Chapel, Bear Creek and Kavanaugh Chapel), Cannonsburg, East Fork, Irvine, Jackson Chapel, Garrett Chapel, Lindsey Chapel and Melrose United Methodist Churches.
He was a man with many interests including farming, animals and sports (especially UK basketball and football and Cincinnati Reds baseball). Most importantly he loved people, his family and his Lord. He was known for his warm, friendly smile with which he still greeted everyone he saw until the last day of his life.
His favorite way to begin a worship service was by saying, “God is good. All the time.” The congregation would respond, “All the time. God is good.” He believed that statement with all of his heart to the very end.
