Fredrich Carr Penick

Fredrich Carr Penick, 75, of Wurtland, fought the fight, kept the faith and finished his race as he battled cancer. Fred left for heaven on Thursday, November 16, 2017 in Cabell Huntington Hospital.
He was born February 11, 1942, Ashland, a son of the late Willard Carr Penick and Wanda Miller Penick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Janice Carolyn Penick.
As a proud American, Fred served in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed walking and taking his dog Maggie for a ride every day, camping, riding his Harley and spending time with family and friends.
He retired from AK Steel and was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia Holt Penick of Wurtland; son, Scott Penick and wife, Christie of Cincinnati, OH; daughter, Valerie Sue Penick of South Point, OH; three grandchildren, Justin Penick of Ashland, Aaron Penick of Ashville, NC and Madison Sparks of Ashland; sister, Sherry Sue Weis of Ashland; his nephews, Greg, Brian and Paul; and nieces, Tara, Lora and Paula.
Funeral services will be held 1p.m. Monday, November 20, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Pastor Mike Rice, officiating. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens where military honors will be provided by the U.S. Marine Corps and American Legion Kenova Post 93.
Visitation will be from Noon until 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Fred’s name may be sent to Fairview Baptist Building Fund.
