Imogene Chandler Culbertson, age 95, of Ashland, KY, died Saturday, June 22, 2019, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.
Born June 13, 1924 in Princeton, Kentucky, Imogene was the daughter of the late Eugene Bennett Chandler and Ida Elizabeth Ray Chandler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, William Hunter Culbertson.
Surviving her are: her brother Ollie Wayne Chandler of Kildee, Ill, her daughter Elizabeth Ann Wilson and husband Roger of Ashland, KY, her sons William Hunter Culbertson and wife Lona of Paducah, KY, David Eugene Culbertson and wife Jenny of Richardson, TX, and Robert Chandler Culbertson and wife Cathy of Georgetown, Ky.
Also surviving are grandchildren: Tim Wilson of Lexington, KY, Matt Wilson and wife De of Brentwood, TN, Ben Culbertson and wife Kelly of Rome, Georgia, Nick Culbertson and wife Rebecca of Dallas, TX, Luke Culbertson of Louisville, KY, Ryan Culbertson and wife Haley of Houston, TX, Chris Culbertson and wife Masha of Humble, TX, Alex Geillich of Dallas, TX, Laura Geillich of Boulder, Co, Cam Culbertson and wife Serena of Georgetown, KY, Will Culbertson and wife Katherine of Lexington, KY, Cate Mart and Husband Matt of Nashville, TN and John Culbertson of Nashville, TN.
Seventeen Great Grandchildren surviving are: Mabry, Hunter, and Bennett Wilson of Brentwood TN, Catherine and Nathan Wilson of Lexington, KY, Sam , Abby and Daniel Culbertson of Rome, GA, Annie and Caroline Culbertson of Georgetown, KY , Olivia and Aaron Mart of Nashville, TN , Graham and Gage Culbertson of Houston, TX, Kaitlyn Culbertson of Humble, TX , Hannah Culbertson of Dallas, TX, and Hattie Culbertson of Lexington, KY.
The center of Imogene’s life and her biggest joy was her family. She had a deep faith in God and an optimistic attitude on life. She always had a pleasant smile for everyone. Imogene was known by her family as an “angel” on earth
Imogene was a member of First United Methodist Church, in Ashland, where she served on several committees through her younger years and was past President of her circle. In her later years, she attended First Baptist Church in Ashland with her daughter and son-in-law. Imogene loved gardening, and was an early member of Southern Hills Garden Club, where she won blue ribbons for her arrangements in floral shows, and served as President of the club for several years.
Imogene was a graduate of Butler High School in Princeton, Ky. She attended Bowling Green Business College, where she met her husband, Bill. While serving as Cub Scout leader and attending numerous sports activities for her children, she worked in her husband’s business, the Dairy Cheer Restaurant, of which he was the founder. She was also Vice President and co-founder of R & B Re- Distributors (a distribution to wholesale restaurants and florists) with her husband Bill.

Pallbearers will be: Tim Wilson, Matt Wilson, Ben Culbertson, Nick Culbertson, Luke Culbertson, Ryan Culbertson, Chris Culbertson, Cam Culbertson, Will Culbertson, John Culbertson, and Matt Mart. Honorary pall bearer is Cate Mart.
To celebrate the life of Imogene, family and friends may call at 5p.m. before the Funeral Service at 6p.m. on Tuesday June 25 at the Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel, 3409 13th Street, Ashland. Burial will be at 3p.m. Wednesday June 26 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Princeton, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Ashland.
