Irene E. Hall

Irene Elizabeth Hall, 92, of Ashland, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Irene was born January 1, 1925, in Paintsville, KY, a daughter of the late George W. and Lennie Fields Sloan. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Marvin Hall, brothers Carl and Bernard Sloan and a sister Kathleen Figley. Irene was a longtime Ashland resident. She was a 1942 graduate of Ashland High School and worked for the War effort during World War II at the former Clayton Lambert munitions plant. She was the oldest living member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Ashland and an avid fan of the Ashland Tomcats and UK sports. Irene also loved doing needlepoint and was an excellent seamstress. Most importantly to her was her family. She was a loving mother grandmother and great grandmother. She will be deeply missed. Survivors include her daughters, Becky and her husband Ronnie Dunnigan of Lexington, Karen and her husband Vic Marsh of Ashland, her grandchildren she adored Ronnie (Amy) Dunnigan, Beth (David) Parks, Scott (Missy) Marsh, Kim (Jamie) Simons, eleven great grandchildren, her special caregiver Renea Blevins and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Steen Funeral Home, 13th Street Chapel by Pastor Michael McAllister. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00am till 1:00pm at the funeral home.
