James E. Artrip

James. E. “Jim” Artrip, 79, of Ashland, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Jim was one of thirteen children born to the late Dewey and Verna Waugh Artrip. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Lunsford Artrip, a grandson Elijah Artrip and several brothers and sisters.
Jim was a lifelong resident of Ashland. He and his family owned and operated the former Artrip’s Market in Ashland which was known for its quality produce. He also worked as an Ironworker with Local #769 in Ashland. In his spare time Jim loved to play golf.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children James Artrip, Tim Artrip, Phillip Artrip, Shawn (Anna) Artrip, daughters Tammy Jarrell, Dawn Artrip, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, 20 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Steen Funeral Home 13th St. Chapel by Pastor Clell Lucas. Burial will be in the Dixon Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12-2pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
