James Alvin “Gordy” Coleman 60, of Rush, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at UK Medical Center.
He was born March 20, 1957 a son of the late George Richard Coleman Sr. and Frances Marie Tiller Coleman. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Rosemary Owens and Charlotte Ann Coleman Burton.
Gordy was a charter member of Bear Creek Bandits and served as president. He was a Kentucky Colonel and former Boy Scout. He was a lover of anything with two wheels, having owned over 30 motorcycles throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed attending biker rallies, and being with his friends and family. Gordy was extremely personable and greatly enjoyed interacting with people. He was the owner and operator of Gordy’s Boot and Shoe Care Center on 16th Street in Ashland.
Survivors include three brothers, Tom Tiller (Lisa) Essex Junction, Vermont, Hoppy Coleman and wife, Pearl of Rush, KY, and Lon Coleman (Linda Newman) of Highland Heights, KY; brother in law, Jerry Burton of Rush, KY; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 4p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel.
A celebration party of Gordy’s life will be held 2p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2017, at the home of his brother, Hoppy, 15843 State Route 854, Rush, KY, 41168.
